Our R&D centre of excellence has a new vacancy for a part-time clinical ultrasound contractor/employee.  This is an excellent opportunity for potential career advancement and exposure to leading advanced visualization and analytics technology within the medical imaging industry. As a company, we strive to create technology that makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives, helping doctors to help restore their patients’ health and well-being.

You will be working alongside our ultrasound Principal Clinical Researcher in our Edinburgh-based Ultrasound Development Team.  Your responsibilities will be mainly focused on understanding and analysing real world clinical problems related to ultrasound hardware, software, probes, functionality, consumables, techniques, integration and workflows; come forward with potential solutions to these issues and translate them into clear software product requirements.  As a clinical contractor, you will be informing and educating the engineering team you are working with about the environment and scenarios in which the products they are developing will be used to ensure the product specification context is clearly understood.

During the product development phase, you will focus on product safety, correct software output, clinical efficiency, user friendliness and performance.  It will be your task to assist with acceptance testing and clinical validation of the products the Ultrasound Development team is working on in cooperation with our network of Clinical Collaborators.  In summary, you will be the clinical user ‘by proxy’, defining the relevancy, functionality, look and feel of our future applications.

We are looking for candidates with a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in medical or clinical ultrasound, or holding the older Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU); or can provide evidence of substantial experience in ultrasound (healthcare facility or medical industry) .

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to clearly communicate complex information to a non-clinical audience, to understand the role of ultrasound in clinical care paths and be willing to travel frequently in the light of clinical collaborator visits, external validation and meetings with other development teams.

You should be highly self-motivated and have an interest for learning new skills, be prepared to use complex software, have attention to detail and be able to thrive working within dynamic, innovative and diverse teams.

We aim to offer an inclusive, flexible and balanced working environment, by being an employer that cares for and respects its employees. We are part of a global family, that works closely with other development teams based in Japan, America, Canada and France; giving the opportunity of work placements at partner sites. As an employer, we want to provide you the right environment to allow you to develop your career, by giving you time to learn new skills and pursue your own creative projects.
