Our R&D centre of excellence in Edinburgh, has a new vacancy for a Team Lead to lead one of our application development teams, where you will help us to deliver state of the art workflow management and clinical decision support systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work on new and emerging medical technology at the convergence of patient data, medical imaging, and the integration of machine learning/artificial intelligence approaches. 

You will be responsible for the leadership and management of a software R&D team working on web based clinical applications. The team comprises of full stack engineers and a clinical specialist. You are expected to work closely with engineers providing technical leadership; line management, mentoring and coaching. You will also be required to manage and prioritise the technical deliverables and to work with and communicate to stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have drive, the ability to inspire others and to help them be their   best.   You   will   have   made   the   transition   of   values   from   being   an   individual   contributor to becoming a manager. You will have excellent communication skills, and have proven experience of working successfully with customers, delivering products, leading development tasks and making the right decisions in projects.

You will be working with one of our medical web application teams, responsible for coding, testing and documenting small to medium-sized clinical application features using an agile methodology. Implementation will be predominantly in Angular, Typescript, JavaScript, SASS (front end) and C# .Net (Backend). C++ knowledge is also useful for working with imaging related libraries. The work is challenging, fast paced, and intellectually stimulating.

It’s important that you have a strong interest in web technology and relevant experience. To be successful, candidates should have an excellent academic record or significant relevant experience. You will have experience as a senior software engineer and a proven track record in leading a team.  You will have worked on some important projects already in your career and will be able to demonstrate the skills and experience you have acquired.

You should be familiar with agile and lean development methodologies. The position will require working closely with other project/team leads (some in other globally distributed development sites) and managing a backlog.
