As part of the leadership team, you will be accountable to the Chief Executive and will lead our Business Resources directorate focused on providing outstanding business support to the wider organisation. You will take strategic management responsibility for all our business support functions including Finance, Risk, Governance, Information Services, Estates and Human Resources whilst playing a key role in the wider strategic leadership of the whole organisation.

As a member of our leadership team you will make a significant contribution to the achievement of our new vision for 2030 and will work with colleagues to develop our business. This is an important, demanding and rewarding role based in Liverpool but with significant travel to London and sometimes beyond. You will be a strong leader, with outstanding interpersonal skills, able to inspire confidence and trust at all levels, who has the professional skills and experience to lead this multidisciplinary team. You will bring people together to deliver outstanding results and to achieve stretching targets.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post Title: Executive Director of Business Resources

Nature of the Role:   Full time 

Responsible to:  Chief Executive Officer                                             

Purpose and Objectives

  • To take strategic management responsibility for Finance, Risk, Governance, Information Services, Estates and Human Resources
  • To ensure our business support functions are robust, efficient, resilient, value for money and fit for purpose
  • To make a significant contribution to the development of NML’s strategic aims, policies and objectives

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the continuing development and communication of a clear and ambitious vision for NML, working with the rest of the leadership team and wider leadership team to develop and drive the delivery of the strategic plan
  • Lead, motivate and direct staff to ensure the highest levels of performance ensuring that they continue to contribute to NML’s strategic aims.
  • Provide decisive and effective leadership to both your own directorate and the wider NML team
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues across NML to ensure development and delivery of the strategic plan
  • Ensure Business Resources team act as business partners and provide good management information for timely decision making using efficient business tools.
  • Equip your own teams and the wider organisation with the facilities, support, skills and competencies to enable them to deliver within the resources available.
  • Ensure our assets are efficiently utilised delivering value for money to serve our visitors, our collections and our staff and those assets are looked after to establish that our working environments are safe, compliant and kept to the highest standard possible within the resources available.
  • Ensure sound risk management systems and corporate governance arrangements are in place, and that the requirements of the Board and its Committees, internal audit and external audit are met

Educated to degree level

Professional qualification or over 5 years senior management in Finance, HR or Estates Management -CCAB member for Finance and CIPD Level 7 for HR

Membership of above relevant professional body

Experience

Senior Leadership role in either Finance or HR

Cultural sector experience

Operated at a Board level and in a strong corporate governance environment

An in-depth understanding of financial management across multi-disciplinary functions
