Overall Purpose

To make the invertebrate library more accessible to visitors.Rationalise the storage of books in the library and  Produce an up to date list of library holdings and allow gaps in information held to be filled.


  • Agree a logical sequence of storage for the entomology reference library with entomology curators;
  • Check and update library data-base to summarise holdings and identify gaps.      

Measures of Success

  • Supervisor feedback on progress during regular meetings

Personal Qualities

  • Patient.
  • Methodical.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Prior knowledge of  invertebrates and natural history would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be given. However a general interest in this area and an enthusiasm to learn would be an advantage.
  • As National Museums Liverpool hosts children and vulnerable adults, all volunteering roles are subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
