Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development, you will:

Develop and delivery a successful programme of fundraising activity, focussed on individual donors and legators, as part of the wider fundraising strategy for NML, aligned to our organisational strategic priorities.

Main duties/key responsibilities

  • Work with the Director and Deputy Director of Fundraising to develop, regularly revise and implement a legacy strategy for the organisation.
  • Work with the Director and Deputy Director of Fundraising to develop, regularly revise and implement programmes for individual giving (other than our membership scheme) – e.g. patrons schemes.
  • Work with our membership team to develop members as givers to NML in other ways.
  • Work creatively to scope, develop and, where appropriate, implement proposals for other fundraising streams from individuals – e.g. fundraising events, crowdfunding etc.
  • Ensure you meet agreed annual fundraising targets in these areas.
  • Plan tailored approaches to prospects, identifying the most appropriate donors for key projects and programmes, and ensuring full research is undertaken.
  • Co-ordinate arrangements for meetings with funders/sponsors, as required, including preparation of itineraries, correspondence, briefings for staff in attendance, minutes and follow-up actions.
  • Prepare reports for NML senior staff, as required, on progress with projects and associated fundraising.
  • Plan and deliver an effective donor stewardship strategy for individuals.
  • Assist with the arrangement and delivery of fundraising/awareness-raising events, working with NML and NML Trading Ltd colleagues.
  • Provide support to the Director and Deputy Director of Development in the area of financial and legislative management of donations.
  • Ensure donor records are accurate and kept updated on the Raiser’s Edge database.
  • Line manage staff within the Development Office, as agreed with your line manager.
  • Prepare accurate and timely written applications and presentations, working closely with staff across NML.
  • Keep up to date with current fundraising practices, procedures and relevant legislation affecting fundraising activities.
  • Undertake additional duties, as required, from time to time.
  • Undertake training and development courses and programmes, as required.
