6 x Regional Archaeology Volunteer

Department - Regional Archaeology

Overall Purpose

The regional archaeology collection includes objects which date from the Mesolithic to the modern periods, and provide evidence about how life in Merseyside has changed through its long history. This volunteer role involves assisting the regional archaeology team with a range of tasks from helping at public facing events to volunteering within the collections.

Reduction in the collections backlog of tasks

General computer skills

Training Provided 

  • Induction to NML and LSTM
  • How to handle archaeological finds
  • In house training on our internal databases and systems
  • Basic photographic skills
  • How to handle archaeological finds
  • Recording of archaeological finds (and  introduction to Museum documentation and Mimsy)
