National Museums Liverpool are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Education Team at the Museum of Liverpool, in the role of Education Demonstrator.

Based within the Education department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of our education offer at the museum.

We aim to deliver a high quality, positive and rewarding museum experience that will encourage children, young people and adults to gain the knowledge and skills they need to develop their educational attainment, cultural awareness and life chances.

To achieve this we recognise that we have a major part to play in understanding the needs of our local schools, communities and visitors. Our success will be demonstrated through the delivery of an excellent and seamless visitor experience that enables high levels of participation, national collaboration and international partnership.

Main Activities

Reporting to the Education Team Leader you will:         

  • Work with schools, community groups and general visitors to develop diverse education activities which are inclusive and accessible to all visitors.
  • Encourage visitor participation through an accessible and inclusive Education / Community Programme.
  • Deliver an education programme of workshops, interactive tours, talks, events and other activities as directed by your Manager or Team Leader.
  • Deliver sessions, activities and projects on diverse themes that target under represented and vulnerable communities across NML venues.
  • Support venue based EV teams to engage with diverse audiences and connect groups identified through outreach programmes with the core education offer.
  • Deliver outreach programmes offsite using themes from permanent galleries and special exhibitions across NML with diverse content when required.
  • Contribute to the development of the department by attending team meetings and giving advice to senior staff, orally and through written reports.
  • Work with colleagues to maximise the Education and Community offer across NML.
  • Ensure that all visitor statistics for your area are collected and recorded onto the Central Events Management System (CEMS) database on a weekly basis.
  • Promote the use of the NML on-line evaluation tool and maximise opportunities to fully utilise social media to connect with new audiences.
  • Assist in the development of educational resources to support temporary exhibitions as and when required
  • Ensure the security of the collections while they are under the care of EV.
  • Work closely with colleagues across NML to ensure a seamless experience and consistent standards are delivered for all visitors to NML with reference to the visitor charter produced by EV.
  • Provide event support and effective house-keeping duties at your venue.
  • Provide Support to volunteers and work placement stidents where required

  • Undertake additional duties, as required, from time to time.
