What you’ll be doing

PPL’s Distribution team is responsible for the management and running of all UK and International distributions. The role of the Business Analyst supports the Distribution team in the running of PPL’s distribution systems and processes, these enable PPL to pay its performer and record company members accurately and efficiently for the use of their recorded music in the UK and around the world.

This role will involve responsibility for understanding and operating the royalty distribution system (Alliant) as it pertains to UK and International distributions.

Responsibility for this system will include but not be limited to activities such as:

  • Data reconciliation and analysis;

  • Running and administering distribution processes;

  • Supporting the Distribution team with ad hoc requests;

  • Updating and creating process documentation;

  • Logging and updating work progress;

  • Running calculations;

  • Becoming a subject matter expert on distribution processes, systems and datasets;

  • Testing system changes; and

  • Reporting out of internal systems for analysis and checking purposes

What you’ll need…

We’re looking for someone who is an analytical thinker, with a passion for music and an enthusiasm for data, to be successful in this role you’ll need a good head for numbers, you’ll need to be a fast learner and have previous experience in complex, high volume data analysis and reporting in a data critical environment.


Key requirements:

  • Educated to a minimum of a degree level (or equivalent) standard ideally within mathematics or similar

  • Demonstrable success in running established data processes and data systems
  • Practiced with data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Intermediate SQL user
  • An understanding of reporting fundamentals
  • Is competent in the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Has working knowledge and understanding of SQL
  • Databases and data reporting experience
  • A sound understanding of data analysis principles
