We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our team for a one year period to cover maternity leave, playing a key role in leading and managing our fundraising team, ensuring strategy and income targets and other KPIs are met and high standards of fundraising practice followed. As Head of Community Relationships (Fundraising) you will have the opportunity to embed the strategy and area business plans and ensure they are successfully implemented and deliver net income growth across all our brands.

 

Head of Community Relationships Fundraising

22.5 hours per week over 3 days

1 year Maternity cover

 

You will play a lead role in a developing and delivering the strategic aims of the organisation as well as driving improvements in the way we fundraise and maximising opportunities for growth and development. You will build strong working relationships across the organisation, representing fundraising in a number of internal and external forums.

 

Successful candidates will have a strong track record in supporter or customer relations; in leading large complex teams with a range of specialisms and handling change and challenge and have experience driving income growth and continuous fundraising improvement across an organisation or team. Ideally the successful candidate will also have good knowledge of Fundraising regulation and best practice.

The role is will work across our bases in Harrogate and Northallerton with other travel required as necessary. Our Harrogate offices are based at Hornbeam Park, just a few minutes’ walk from Hornbeam Park train station and well located for commutes from Leeds, York and surrounding areas via train or car. Job Description

 

Job Purpose

 

To lead and manage all fundraising teams ensuring high standards of fundraising practice are maintained and net income is maximised. The role will plan and implement fundraising activity linked to all brands associated with our parent charity, Harrogate District Hospice Care, and includes Saint Michael’s Hospice, Herriot Hospice Homecare and Just ‘B’ Bereavement support which currently fundraise throughout North Yorkshire and beyond.

 

Key Tasks

 

1.   Assist the Director of Community Relationships in leading the Community Relationships Team, ensuring the department meets it strategic aims.
 

2.    To work together with Communications Manager to develop a fully integrated marketing, sales and customer service experience for donors across all brands and maximise opportunities for growth and synergy.
 

3.    To work positively and collectively together with the Communications Manager to ensure joint accountability for growing the reach quality and impact of the work of the Community Relationships Team and nurturing the communications, marketing, supporter care and fundraising specialisms within it.

 

4.    In line with the Community Relationships sub-strategy, design and implement a  joined up fundraising sales marketing and customer service sub-strategy, working with the Communications Manager, to secure sustainable income growth against agreed targets from a variety of voluntary income sources.

 

5.    To support fundraising team members to develop and deliver individual sustainable fundraising sub-strategies for the specialist fundraising areas.

 

6.    To recruit, motivate, develop and monitor members of staff and volunteers in a positive and empowering style to enable them to contribute to the achievement of the sub strategies and net income targets, encouraging excellent working relationships across the organisation.
 

7.    To directly fundraise using various methods as required by the overall fundraising     strategy to enable net income targets to be achieved.
 

8.  To build and develop working relationships with individuals, companies and external organisations to promote and maximise fundraising opportunities

 

12.   To support the development of major donors and IMO Fundraising to increase the contribution from this area.

 

13.   Take the lead in identifying and developing new income streams and mechanisms to maximise fundraising income, maintaining an up-to-date awareness of competitor activity to be used to inform and innovate future fundraising

 

14.  To take overall responsibility for the standard of fundraising customer service, including resolving enquiries and complaints and ensure that a comprehensive and integrated donor journey is in place where donors are tracked and   progressed.

 

15.  To manage all elements of the day-to-day operational management of the fundraising team and activities including monitoring the completion of required legal agreements and contracts with external agencies and partners.

 

16. To create, update and oversee the policies and procedures for the main fundraising processes and ensure these are followed by team members at all times.

 

17.  To  exercise strategic control over the revenue income and expenditure budgets ensuring fundraising budgets and records are accurate, accessible and up to date,  To develop and implement processes for the a regular review of fundraising performance against the approved budget and implement corrective measures to achieve net income targets including revenue income and expenditure forecasts when required.

 

18. Provide high level, analytical fundraising and volunteering reports for the Director of Community Relationships.  To produce management information through report structures which is quantifiable, and needed by the regulator, including income, staff performance, donor satisfaction and expenditure.

 

19.  Develop a comprehensive volunteering plan to drive and expand and roles of volunteers within fundraising working closely with the Volunteer Manager .

 

20. To work closely with the other team members in the community relationships department to achieve the departmental strategic goals, working closely and collaboratively with the Head of Community Relationships to further the aims of the community relationships team and develop a fully integrated approach to raising funds.

 

21. Protect and enhance the SMH brand and reputation and act as a key ambassador for the charity ensuring that our name and reputation are positively viewed within the marketplace and in line with brand guidelines.
