University College (Univ) and Balliol are seeking to appoint a highly competent and motivated IT Support Assistant to help deliver their IT provision to College students, Fellows, staff and visitors.

The post is part of an IT consortium responsible for the provision, management and availability of all IT services within the supported colleges, including Univ and Balliol.  You will be responsible for supporting ICT users, trouble-shooting problems, maintaining, updating and assisting in developing the Colleges IT infrastructure, etc.   You will also help to install desktops, monitors, printers, network switches and other ICT hardware at the College’s locations.

You must be willing and able to travel between sites and occasionally you may be required to work at other services within the consortium besides Univ and Balliol.  Some work may involve manual handling and the occasional use of ladders (suitable training will be provided).

The ideal candidate will have a track record of delivering excellent customer service, demonstrable experience of working with IT systems in a service-oriented environment, and a good working knowledge of client operating systems and programs (particularly Windows and Microsoft Office package etc.).  Sound organisational skills, self-motivation, patience with others and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
