Academy Player Care Assistant

Roles and responsibilities

1. To assist in the relocation of players as necessary.
2. To arrange temporary accommodation for the relocating of players.
3. To support the search for permanent accommodation for relocated players.
4. To identify a high quality package off field support for all players as required by the Education, Welfare and Player Services Manager.
5. To plan, oversee, monitor and review the Academy transport service.
6. To arrange English lessons as needed.
7. Any other requirements the player may have to ensure they are settled quickly into the area and are happy.
8. To liaise with parent/carers, host families and other academy staff.
9. To monitor placements and review where necessary.
10. To develop, coordinate and monitor appropriate administration tools for the updating and safe recording of player and host information.
11. To produce reports as and when necessary.
12. To collect and escort trialists and their families to and from the Club including tours of the local area if appropriate.
13. To develop and monitor all areas of accommodation, sourcing appropriate accommodation individual to each player’s needs, including the recruitment of host family accommodation, semi-independent accommodation, hotel stays, and private accommodation for all players. To provide a monthly report in relation to players staying within host families.
14. To arrange national insurance numbers and bank accounts for players as required.
15. To manage all club accommodation that houses development squad players to ensure it is kept clean and safe for all inhabitants. To provide necessary furniture when the need arises.
16. To manage all family accommodation that houses young development players to ensure that all requirements are met as directed by the homestay agreement issued by the club.
17. To work closely with contractors, suppliers and retail outlets to ensure that prices for goods and services are the cheapest in the area where appropriate.
18. To develop professional relationships with players’, families and representatives, acting as a point of contact for queries and assistance that may arise whilst they are a player at BHAFC. 
19. To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required by management.

  • To support Brighton & Hove Albion FC and AITC in their aims and objectives at all times.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant club policies, including health and safety policies.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements.
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the charity, club and its personnel.
  • To represent Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club and AITC in a professional manner.
  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times.
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience


  • A clear understanding of the “pressure points” of professional football
  • Competent level of numeracy and literacy
  • Microsoft office skills – Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Teaching, welfare, languages or other relevant qualifications 
  • Previous experience of working or playing in a professional sports environment
