Role overview

The role will oversee and assist with the management of new and existing products and the Product Oversight and Governance (POG) requirements for the suite of products across Bspoke Commercial Ltd. The Product Governance Manager will ensure that all products, new and existing, are meeting regulatory requirements and providing value to customers, distributors and insurer capacity providers, working closely with all entities across the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

To deliver on this purpose, the Product Governance Manager role is responsible for the following:

• Conduct comprehensive analysis of the product portfolio to ensure adherence to the highest levels of consumer protection.
• Work with all stakeholders to ensure the business is compliant in respect of New Product development and Existing Product changes.
• Identification and implementation of Product Governance controls, and ensure processes and best practice are appropriately documented.
• Own the Product Review process and fair value assessments, ensuring all Product Assessments are completed annually or as required, and all products go through regular risk reviews.
• Produce and review the Bspoke Commercial Ltd product MI and dashboards monthly - investigate and act upon as required.
• Produce regular product updates for the Bspoke Commercial Ltd Board meetings.
• Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement product governance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to Consumer Duty regulations.
• Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes related to customer duty of care and provide recommendations for necessary adjustments to our product offerings.
• Conduct regular reviews to assess the effectiveness of our product governance framework.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that customer feedback and complaints are appropriately addressed and incorporated into product governance processes.
• Preparation of materials and delivery of presentations to all stakeholders
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in Consumer Duty and other relevant regulatory obligations to continuously improve our product governance framework.

Skills & Knowledge 

• Significant product development and product review experience, specifically in commercial lines insurance.
• Good technical knowledge of products, underwriting and insurance distribution.
• Experience of working in a Financial Services organisation.
• Good knowledge of FCA requirements in relation to Consumer Duty, Product Governance and Vulnerability and experience of using and navigating the FCA handbook
• Understanding of the product lifecycle (inception to retirement), associated documentation, processes and activities.
• A strong knowledge of general insurance products and awareness of competitor advantage and competitor activity.
• A high level of insurance industry knowledge including an overview of regulatory requirements.
• A good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint and good general computer skills.
• A requirement to develop a strong working knowledge of internal procedures and standards and key regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and numeracy skills
• Good planning, organisation, analytical, problem solving, delivery and time management skills

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Educated to degree standard or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 year’s experience in a product role or technical role
• Experience gained within a wide range of insurance models is desirable
• Experience of both retail and commercial lines
• Good working knowledge of relevant insurance markets
• Good working knowledge of regulatory landscape

Desirable

• Recognised Chartered Institute Qualification or other relevant qualification
