Purpose of the role

 

 

The principal duty of the post-holder will be to effectively manage the Caius annual fund (The Caius Fund) and all activities associated with it three complementary elements.

Main duties and Responsibilities

TELEPHONE FUNDRAISING

Key part of the Caius annual fund is the annual telephone fundraising campaign. The Development Officer will take full responsibility for managing all aspects of the telephone campaign, including:

  • Caller recruitment and training
  • working with colleagues across College departments to make all necessary logistical arrangements (equipment, student accommodation and meals, remuneration etc.)
  • calling pool selection with Deputy Development Director and Database Manager
  • all communications aspects of the telephone fundraising campaign (case for support, pre-call and post-call communications, social media posts, post-campaign reporting)
  • managing the calling team and calling sessions using specialist software
  • dealing with any issues that may arise during the telephone campaign

 


DIGITAL CAMPAIGNS


A digital Giving Day campaign is the second component of the Caius annual fund. The Development Officer will take full responsibility for managing all aspects of a Giving Day, including:

 

  • with Deputy Development Director selecting external consultants
  • with Deputy Development Director and Director of Development agree key projects
  • secure individual gifts for Giving Day challenges
  • liaising with students and Fellows to generate supportive messages and communications material for the Giving Day
  • come up with creative and effective activities across the College in support of the Giving Day
  • actively managing the Giving Day peak period with external consultants
  • conduct data selection and gift processing with the Database Manager and Development Assistant

 


DIRECT MAIL


The final component of the Caius annual fund is a direct mail (DM) campaign. The Development Officer will take full responsibility for managing all aspects of the DM campaign, including:

 

  • with Deputy Development Director, identify key projects
  • build case for support and communications collateral
  • with Database Manager conduct data selection for the target group(s)
  • as needed, liaising with external printers and mailing houses in execution of the DM campaign

 

 

OTHER
 

  • Report on each annual component individually, as well as produce an annual report taking the full view of the annual fund programme.
  • Supporting Deputy Development Director in production of fundraising communications (print and digital)
  • As needed, supporting the Development Office colleagues at particularly busy periods, some of which may fall at the weekend
