- Preparing the Operational flight plan and filing the flight plan with EuroControl
- Preparation of the Commander’s flight brief prior to each flight
- To maintain a flight watch on all aircraft operated and furnish the Commander in flight or on the ground with any information necessary for the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.
- To take corrective action in the event of delays or disruption and to be pro-active in minimising delays or disruptions.
- To coordinate inter-departmental activities to restore operations to schedule and minimise effects on customers
- To Maintain full awareness of the performance of the daily flying program by regularly seeking the latest update information from stations and other sources as required
- To take tactical decisions and provide direction to all Departments, Stations and Suppliers
- To liaise with the Commander in the event of actual or forecast delays or diversions and assist him/her in the decision to cancel, re-route or delay flights as required.
- Absolute precedence will be given to safety & security over commercial decisions
- To allocate aircraft to specific flights in accordance with operational, maintenance and commercial requirements to achieve a safe and punctual operation. This involves close liaison with Line maintenance control and tech planning departments.
- To act as focal point for the whole network and coordinate the Company’s efforts to ensure that maximum punctuality is achieved.
- To initiate the Company Emergency Response Plan as per procedures in Operations Manual Part A and the Emergency Response Manual.
- To maintain familiarity with Company Operations Manuals and Procedures as are necessary to fulfil his function
- To perform additional procedures which are laid down by Head of Operations
- To keep abreast of the latest statutory, operational, technical and safety developments
Note: Nothing in the responsibilities of the Operations Control Duty Manager will interfere or limit the authority of the Commander in the discharge of his/her responsibilities.
Qualifications
- A minimum of Five years’ experience in an Operational Control Centre as OCC Controller/Dispatcher.
- Demonstrated analytical and creative ability to develop optimum solutions to schedule problems, within the many internal and external constraints that exist
- Ability to assess problems and make clear-cut and evaluated decisions quickly, in order to minimise disruption and deliver a cost-effective schedule to our wet lease partners
- Well-developed interpersonal, influencing and communication skills with the ability to establish positive relationships with our customers and delivery areas both internal and external
- A focused understanding of our commercial and competitive positions in our key markets
- Strong organisational skills combined with high levels of initiative, flexibility and commitment
- The ability to manage and motivate a team in the delivery of the airline’s schedule
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to deliver under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Weather / NOTAMS/ Operational Constraints / Crew agreements / FRM/ FTL or the ability to acquire such knowledge quickly
- Exceptional flight planning skills and knowledge of all ATC systems and slot management.
