CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

We have an incredible opportunity for a CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER to join our team. This role is remote based and can be based anywhere in the UK. There is travel required throughout the UK.

Job Purpose             

Build and protect Help for Heroes’ profile as the leading charity supporting WIS veterans in the UK.

Accountabilities        

  • The definition & communication of our Recovery Services, in support of our thought leadership agenda
  • Relationships with key stakeholders identified as part of our corporate communications strategy
  • Protecting the Charity’s reputation, including supporting with crisis communications

Main Responsibilities     

  • Identify, build & nurture mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders, within the third sector, media, the NHS and the MOD, to drive forward our Communications & Policy activity
  • Define & communicate our Recovery Services, to actively increase our profile as the leading charity supporting WIS veterans in the UK
  • Identify & promote areas of Recovery Services that have the potential to drive our communications & thought leadership agenda, such as Sports Recovery and Recovery College
  • Through ‘Championing the wounded’ identify ways to demonstrate the societal impact of the charity beyond the veteran community
  • Provide expert knowledge & understanding of our Recovery Services to inform Marketing, Fundraising & PR projects
  • Support with the development and communication of key corporate projects, such as the Annual Report and Knowledge Hub
  • Protect the reputation of the Charity by supporting the development of reactive statements, scenario planning and change communication during times of crisis
  • Be up to date on the latest current affairs issues affecting our sector (military & charity) and advise internal stakeholders when appropriate
  • Proactively identify and propose responses to themes in the national news agenda that affect our services, beneficiaries and sector
  • Support the production of regular engaging online content to build awareness and profile of designated Help for Heroes Recovery services in line with central messaging

Essential Qualifications  

  • Educated to A-level experience, with practical career-based development if not educated to bachelor degree.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience         

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant Marketing, Communications or Public Relations experience.
  • A friendly, confident character with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan ahead whilst still able to work at a fast pace with changing priorities
  • Ability to complete work in a timely manner, meeting deadlines whilst able to manage upwards and downwards
  • Experience working under pressure and with changing priorities
  • Ability to understand the charity and fit in with the tone of voice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An interest in current affairs and a understanding of the different types of media outlets
  • A positive attitude to work and be passionate about the cause.
  • Full clean driving licence 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience        

  • Qualification in Marketing, PR, Communications or other relevant University degree
  • Experience working in military, healthcare or similar sector

Once government guidelines permit, this role may be required to undertake travel throughout the UK to attend team meetings. Additionally restrictions permitting, this role will be required to attend and work during the Invictus Games at the Hague, currently due to take place in May 2021.
