With our ongoing commitment to our people in terms of specifically engagement and wellbeing initiatives, we are now looking to appoint into this is a brand new and exciting specialist role. The successful individual will be working within a small HR team, working directly alongside the HR Services Lead reporting to the HR Director. This specialist role will also work in partnership with colleagues, department managers and with the wider senior team. This is a core level appointment offered on a fixed term basis of c. 6 months in the first instance, however we may be able to consider applications from individuals looking for permanent employment. We are also accepting applications from those interested in either part time or full time work. The main location of the role will be based in our head office (Broxburn, West Lothian), but due to the evolving nature of work, this role will be offered on a mixture of remote based and office based, working arrangements (hybrid).

The role will involve leading on the execution of wellbeing and engagement programmes and initiatives, whilst supporting the ongoing development and continual evolution of the overall engagement and wellbeing strategy. Key to the success of this role will be empowering managers, helping them understand and prioritise facets of wellbeing and engagement within their own teams, and promoting the value of our people in driving wellbeing and engagement. In light of the world as it is today, our working environment is changing and evolving. Supporting managers and colleagues with the ever-changing world of work whilst maintaining positive wellbeing, will be central to the outputs of this new role.

Day to Day Activities (some examples and not an exhaustive list)

  • Supporting the HR Director in the overall management of the wellbeing and engagement focus
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Acting as a point of contact and support to managers and leaders, helping them understand the importance of wellbeing and engagement
  • Helping managers and leaders address business issues in line with their own department and overall business plans
  • Innovative (and at points disruptive) thought leadership in the areas of wellbeing and engagement
  • Identifying a one team overarching business approach to wellbeing and engagement, however working with departments to execute and adapt programmes and initiatives in line with each department’s own individual culture and set of day to day needs and activities
  • Generating and implementing new ideas and initiatives and project managing these to embed as applicable (e.g. mental health first aid, events calendar etc)
  • Developing and managing a wellbeing and engagement colleague forum, being accountable for all centrally led wellbeing activities and events
  • Leading with the coordination and end to end management of key initiatives such as ‘Let’s Talk’
  • Contributing to writing colleague briefings and LinkedIn social media posts around wellbeing and engagement
  • Overseeing all centrally formalised engagement activities, including surveys, feedback and recognition, and the development and monitoring of department led actions plans as a result of any outputs
  • Account owner for our wellbeing and engagement partner platforms, providing relevant data, insight and analysis to gain support for and commitment to, key priorities
  • Collating and uploading wellbeing content directly onto the eLearning platform, regularly auditing, reporting and refreshing as applicable
  • Keeping up to date with external best practice through appropriate networking and collaboration
  • Identifying and helping the business achieve relevant accreditations related to wellbeing and engagement priorities and best practice

Skills & Experiences

  • Previous working experience within an HR team and/or in an employee comms and engagement role
  • Previous experience in a similar role, and on leading on wellbeing and engagement projects and initiatives
  • Good solid understanding of wellbeing and engagement principles and practices
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • A strategic mind
  • Ability to discuss and evidence demonstrable outputs and successes to date in both key areas of wellbeing and engagement
  • Extensive experience in terms of advising managers on all aspects of wellbeing and engagement
  • Experience of supporting business change
  • Experience of developing, managing, administering and analysing colleague engagement surveys and other relevant feedback mechanisms
  • Ability to deliver effective training and identifying training needs in relation to wellbeing, engagement and related topics/disciplines
  • Full end to end management of associated eLearning content
  • Project management and/or leading projects and workstreams across a variety of wellbeing and engagement programmes
  • Creative flair and a curious mind
  • Ability to think strategically and execute plans through collaboration and partnership working
  • A highly innovative approach to wellbeing and engagement
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A positive and proactive outlook
  • Infectious energy and oodles of passion
  • Effective problem solving skills and a structured and meticulous approach to work
  • Awareness of the need for confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Ability to engage appropriately and offer tailored solutions to a variety of business areas ranging from production, to commercial sales / marketing to retail / visit centres, and to central support teams
  • Experience of: Microsoft 365 Dynamics; different design editing software; Welbot; Litmos; Cascade; and / or other relevant platforms (desirable)
  • Experience of supporting flexible working environments and of introducing and supporting hybrid and remote working (desirable)

Qualifications & Professional Memberships (desirable):

  • Membership of CIPD
  • Qualification/s in a communications related discipline 
  • Qualification/s in an HR related discipline (ideally with a wellbeing and/or engagement focus)
