Pension Overview

The James Hutton Group pension scheme is a defined contribution scheme. The scheme is run by AEGON and is a Group Personal Pension Plan. This means that the pension is your own personal plan.
We will contribute an amount equivalent to 15% of your salary in to your plan and, depending on your role, you will be asked to contribute up to 8% through a salary sacrifice arrangement. You will be provided with all the relevant details before you come to work for us and we will submit an application to join the scheme on your behalf when you start your new job. You will then have access to an on-line service advising you of the value of your pension and providing other advice to plan for the future.

Life insurance

In addition to the pension scheme we offer a life insurance scheme which provides a lump sum of 4x salary. This is fully funded by us and allows you to make specific nominations for payment which are easily managed by you through an on-line portal should it become necessary.

We offer a range of other benefits including an active social club, free on-site car parking, on-site canteens, a cycle to work scheme and childcare vouchers.

Cycle to Work

The James Hutton Institute is a registered employer within this scheme and employees are entitled to apply to join.  Further information can be found on the Cyclescheme website.

Childcare Vouchers

We offer a childcare voucher scheme through which employees can make tax and National Insurance savings on the cost of childcare.  This is provided through the Sodexo Childcare Voucher Scheme.
