Kymab is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a deep pipeline of novel antibody-based therapies in a broad range of indications. The Company generates its product candidates using its proprietary, integrated platforms collectively called IntelliSelect®. Kymab’s platforms have been designed to maximize the diversity of human antibodies produced in response to immunization with antigens. Selecting from a broad diversity of fully human antibodies allows for the identification of antibodies with optimal drug-like properties.

We are looking to recruit a Bioinformatics Developer to join the Bioinformatics Group at Kymab. You will have a leading role in the development of our IntelliSelect® software platform for antibody repertoire analysis, and lead candidate selection. You will work with Scientists, Research Bioinformaticians, and Software Developers to identify and work on improvements to the platform. Your role will be in facilitating effective deployment and interfacing with 3rd party scientific software developers to create and maintain a reliable and effective Bioinformatics and Data Science environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and refining, documenting and improving resilience of antibody NGS data processing pipelines
  • Developing and refining in-silico methods for analysing and visualising antibody sequence data
  • Analysing complex datasets from a range of technologies and sample types (RNA-seq, Nanostring, scRNA-seq etc.)
  • Developing tools and techniques to stimulate hypothesis driven research from public data sets (e.g. TCGA, Human Cell Atlas etc.)
  • Integrating with and supporting our Genedata Biologics and Bioprocess LIMS systems – driving ease of use, quality and compliance objectives.
  • Researching and presenting work at internal and external company meetings – keeping colleagues current in state of the art bioinformatics techniques that drive business value.


Education & Experience

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or similar discipline
  • Dev-ops experience (eg, git, CI, CD, Jenkins, docker, AWS, Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience with antibody repertoire sequence analysis and antibody discovery (desirable)
  • Experience with software development project management using Scrum (desirable)
  • Previous experience with the Genedata Biologics/Bioprocess LIMS systems (desirable)
  • Previous experience with a pipeline orchestration technology e.g. Common Workflow Language, nextflow etc. (desirable)

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency in the use of Python (3, ideally)
  • Proficiency in the use of Linux (ideally Ubuntu 18.04 LTS or later)
  • Proficiency in the use of relational databases and SQL (Oracle 12 or later)
  • Proficiency in the use of KNIME (desirable)
  • Proficiency in the use of Java (desirable)
