Kymab is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a deep pipeline of novel antibody-based therapies in a broad range of indications. The Company generates its product candidates using its proprietary, integrated platforms collectively called IntelliSelect®. Kymab’s platforms have been designed to maximize the diversity of human antibodies produced in response to immunization with antigens. Selecting from a broad diversity of fully human antibodies allows for the identification of antibodies with optimal drug-like properties.

We are looking to bring on board a Research Scientist I/II, to design and run work streams focussing on the identification and characterisation of the mechanism of action of lead antibodies from our immune-oncology projects to inform decisions on progression of candidate molecules towards development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and run the in vivo pharmacology/oncology studies
  • Perform regulated in vivo experimental procedures covered by Home Office licences
  • Perform tissue culture in support of studies
  • Harvest experimental tissues
  • Perform ex vivo analysis
  • Analysis and interpretation of data and reporting key outcomes to the project team and management
  • Ensure accurate recording of and reporting of data
  • Actively engage across the organization

As part of the team you will be required to participate in weekend/public holiday rota to perform essential animal check-ups and procedures.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • PhD or equivalent industrial experience with proven track record evidenced by first author publications / patent authorship
  • Experience with in vivo tumour models (preferred)
  • Current Personal Home Office Licence Modules A-C with extensive experience of related procedures in mice/rats
  • Experience of contributing to and following SOPs

Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to define individual protocols and experimental blocks of work to answer key questions around pharmacology (PK/PD), immunology (mechanism of action) to guide project team decisions
  • Multiplexed ex-vivo analytical techniques including FACs, RNAseq, cytokine analysis
  • Ability to analyse and report on large datasets
  • Confidence with tissue culture
  • Awareness of A[SP]A and 3Rs
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation


  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records including using computerized systems
  • Flexible and able to work independently with a degree of autonomy and ownership
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with conflicting demands
  • Effective at communicating and liaising at all levels
  • Ability to engage wider team with strategy, plans and novel ideas
  • A team player attitude with proven negotiation skills
