Kymab is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a deep pipeline of novel antibody-based therapies in a broad range of indications. The Company generates its product candidates using its proprietary, integrated platforms collectively called IntelliSelect®. Kymab’s platforms have been designed to maximize the diversity of human antibodies produced in response to immunization with antigens. Selecting from a broad diversity of fully human antibodies allows for the identification of antibodies with optimal drug-like properties.

We are looking to recruit a Research Scientist I/II on a one-year fixed term contract.  The successful candidate will design and implement in vitro immunological assays that demonstrate the mechanism of action for our therapeutic antibodies identified from our state-of-the-art discovery platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and run in vitro primary cell-based assays supporting the understanding of our antibody therapeutics in immuno-oncology (I-O) and auto-immunity, and provide intellectual input where required.
  • Provide guidance to more junior members of staff and demonstrate scientific and technical expertise with regards to assay development strategies and rationale
  • Work with Project Leaders, Group Leaders or senior management to ensure timely delivery of data and reporting of any issues
  • Provide clear reports of analysed data in a timely manner and presentations to group, project and company meetings as required
  • Communicate ideas and findings to the team and the wider company
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks to standard required for regulatory filings, publications and patent filings
  • Ensure Health and Safety, Human Tissue Act and other internal regulatory requirements are adhered to; attend all relevant training
  • Other duties as may be required

Education and experience

  • PhD in relevant subject area e.g. immunology, tumour biology; OR BSc/MSc with significant practical experience
  • Experience in working with human blood samples essential
  • Strong background in multi-colour flow cytometry essential
  • Strong background in immunological cell-based assays e.g. T cell proliferation, MLR desirable


  • Able to work independently with a degree of autonomy and ownership
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with conflicting demands
  • A flexible and team player attitude
