Kymab is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a deep pipeline of novel antibody-based therapies in a broad range of indications. The Company generates its product candidates using its proprietary, integrated platforms collectively called IntelliSelect®. Kymab’s platforms have been designed to maximize the diversity of human antibodies produced in response to immunization with antigens. Selecting from a broad diversity of fully human antibodies allows for the identification of antibodies with optimal drug-like properties.

We are looking to recruit a bioinformatician to join the Data Science Group at Kymab. Bioinformatics and data science are critical differentiators of Kymab’s drug discovery capabilities, and you will work on a variety of projects with scientists across the company to process, analyse and interpret biological datasets. In parallel to this supporting role, you will also have the opportunity to devise your own projects and influence the development of the company’s technology strategy moving forwards. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, biology and other scientific advances and will enjoy working in cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing complex biological datasets from a range of technologies and sample types
  • Contributing to the development of our IntelliSelect® antibody sequence analysis software
  • Developing visualisation and analysis tools for internal use
  • Data curation, processing and management
  • Supporting patent filings
  • Presenting results at internal and external company meetings

Job Requirements

Experience & Education: 

  • Masters or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or similar discipline
  • Experience analysing and interpreting biological or clinical datasets
  • Experience with transcriptomic and genomic NGS data analysis
  • Experience discussing and presenting scientific experiments and results
  • Strong track record of scientific achievement

Skills & Knowledge: 

  • Proficiency in the use of R
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting language, e.g. Python or Perl
  • Proficiency in the use of Linux and Bash
  • Knowledge of core biological concepts including genetics and immunology
  • Knowledge of statistics and data-mining
  • Knowledge of the primary biological data repositories, e.g. Ensembl and NCBI
  • Ability to contribute independently and collaboratively, and to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in the use of modern computer technologies such as Git, Docker, cloud-computing is desirable.
