Reporting to the Director of Pharmacology & Translational Sciences, we are looking for a Senior Research Scientist or an experienced Research Scientist II, to design and run complex work streams focussing on the identification and characterisation of the mechanism of action of lead antibodies from our immune-oncology projects to inform decisions on progression of candidate molecules towards development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-               Design and run in vivo pharmacology/oncology studies

-               Perform regulated in vivo experimental procedures covered by Home Office licences A-C

-               Perform tissue cultures in support of studies

-               Harvest experimental tissues

-               Perform ex vivo analysis, including FACs, RNAseq & cytokine analysis

-               Analysis and interpretation of data and reporting key outcomes to the project team and management

-               Ensure accurate recording of and reporting of data

-               Train and coach less experienced members of the team

-               Actively engage across the organization

As part of the team you will be required to participate in weekend/public holiday rota to perform essential animal check-ups and procedures, roughly equivalent to one weekend in 5/6 with time off given in lieu.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

•              PhD/Post-doc or equivalent industrial experience with proven track record evidenced by first author publications / patent authorship

•              Extensive experience with in vivo experimentation

•              Experience with oncology tumour models (preferred)

•              Experience of contributing to and following SOPs

•              Proven track record in delivery of molecules into development

•              Supervisory experience

Skills & Knowledge

•              Ability to define individual protocols and large experimental blocks of work to answer key questions around pharmacology (PK/PD), immunology (mechanism of action) to guide project team decisions

•              Multiplexed ex-vivo analytical techniques including FACs, RNAseq, cytokine analysis

•              Ability to analyse and report on large datasets

•              Confidence with tissue cultures

•              Awareness of A[SP]A and 3Rs

•              Personal Home Office Licence Modules A-C

•              Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation

•              Ability to keep neat and accurate records including using computerized systems

•              Flexible and able to work independently with a degree of autonomy and ownership

•              Ability to work effectively under pressure with conflicting demands

•              Effective at communicating and liaising at all levels

•              Ability to engage wider team with strategy, plans and novel ideas

•              A team player attitude with proven negotiation skills
