OPM is seeking an experienced and strategically-minded IT expert to join as Head of Technology with the purpose of building a Global IT operation that fuels ambitious international growth plans. 

As Head of Technology at OPM:

  • You will develop and deliver a 3-year Technology strategy for the business that supports overall company strategy. You will also maintain and manage existing IT infrastructure and bring global I.T. and technical input the current Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation.
  • The business is currently implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 to the global business and cross functionally, we need this individual to come on board and assist the core project team, working closely with the external project manager through this business transformation.
  • The right candidate will have excellent vision for strategy - this candidate will be a dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, communication is key for the global business. 
  • The right candidate will have strong leadership and management skills with a proven record of team development. 
  • Creative thinker, with the ability to proactively identify areas for potential improvement (process and functionality) Lead initiatives and solution enhancements. Translate business/operational requirements into effective and efficient systems solutions and to manage conflicting priorities/complex workload. 

Please note that this position is based in Oxford and may require international travel. Candidates must have the existing right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities and Duties
This role will be responsible for the overall support of all Infrastructure, Network, and IT support services. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Establish strategy and business plans for delivery
  • Establish the strategic direction for the IT support department.
  • Providing IT support to the business transformation aided by the Dynamics 365 implementation
  • All on-premise infrastructure including data centres and cloud hosted solutions.
  • Network circuits including Wide Area Network, Local Area Network; mobile and telephony services.
  • IT activities associated with managing the service desk 1st and 2nd line support, incidents, out of hours support, problems and changes needed to support the global business.
  • Internal IT team supporting the above services.
  • The third-party IT suppliers who provide support services for the above
  • Lead and build the technology team and shape the form of the organisation.
  • Effective delivery of innovative and relevant IT Services and Solutions.
  • Ensure IT Service continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Direct the management of the IT Support department.

Skills and experience

  • Global work environment, has lead and managed across globally distributed teams
  • Global vision - can drive for platform scale across a large business with huge growth potential
  • Strong line management skills including excellent experience of developing and coaching high performing teams
  • Experience in implementing and operating Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Desirable experience of Power BI
  • Desirable experience with Dynamics (Finance and Operations, CE- Customer Engagement, PSA – Project Service Automation and Talent – now known as HR Human Resources)
  • Experience in running complex IT projects, managing multiple stakeholders
  • Clear understanding of ITIL principles
  • Management of budgets and experience of managing to budget and evidence of driving successful cost savings initiatives.
  • Project Management experience
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, enjoying autonomy and excited by the prospect of building a new technology function
  • Stakeholder management across all levels within our organisation including to board level.
  • Excellent vendor management capabilities including extensive experience of deploying and managing suppliers to a formal supplier relationship management model. This includes the ability to define and manage suppliers to contractual obligations and SLAs.
  • Experience of managing in-house and third-party support teams.
  • Solid understanding of Incident, Problem, Change and Release management processes.
  • Strong understanding of data and analytic procedures
