This role is based at Bathford Paper Mill, where paper has been made for over 200 years.

Job Purpose:

To support the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager in ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, company policies, and international standards. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally sustainable workplace while promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of staff.
• Proactive and able to identify and implement improvements in HSE processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Familiarity with risk assessments, SOP writing, and auditing processes.
• Some understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, including their application and maintenance.
• Desire to learn and improve Health, Safety and Environmental standards and improve the welfare of the workforce.
• Capability to investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Experience working collaboratively across multiple departments.

Desirable

• Ideally experience or knowledge in COSHH, waste management, and environmental compliance.
• Competency in river water sampling and environmental monitoring is advantageous.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Environmental qualification or training (e.g., IEMA Foundation Certificate).
