Licensing and Partnerships Officer
Salary £24,204 per annum (Maternity Cover – 12 months)
This is a maternity cover contract (12 months with possibility of extension) working full time, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Applications for part-time are also welcome.
The Royal Armouries is the UK’s National Museum of Arms & Armour and houses one of the most important collections of its type in the world. The museum has three sites; its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian era Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
We are looking for a Licensing and Partnerships Officer to join the Commercial team and provide commercial support across all areas of licensing and monetisation of the museums’ IP. This includes the development of brand licensing, image library & licensing, commercial filming and consultancy.
The role reports to the Senior Licensing & Media Partnerships Manager and works closely with them to maintain and grow commercial revenues from licensing and partnership activities, particularly within the Entertainment industries (Video Games, Online, TV, Film, Print).
Additionally, the role will occasionally be required to support the intellectual property team with infrastructure around DAMS (Digital Asset Management System), Digitisation, Filming and Photography.
The ideal candidate will be committed to providing exceptional customer support to inbound enquires and to maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners. In addition, they will possess a passionate and creative approach for identifying and creating opportunities to pitch to new potential partners and work with the Senior Licensing & Media Partnerships Manager to bring onboard.
This is a hybrid position where flexible arrangements between home-working and presence in the Leeds office are available.

Job Description
Duties
Business Development and Customer Service
- To respond to image search and research requests from external clients, negotiate fees to agreed rate card and terms of use, and supply licenses and content in the required formats.
- Provide exceptional customer support to image library users and develop after sales client service.
- Support growth of the image licensing business to increase ecommerce automation, broaden customer base and increase revenues from both direct and agency image sales.
- Work with IP staff to develop new and repackage existing IP, to license to the media.
- Collaborate with marketing & communications staff to create or identify opportunities that can be used to raise profile and drive sales of Royal Armouries IP and services.
- Assist with maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing license and brand partners.
- Support extending brand reach through RA Entertainment into new licenses and partnerships with media industry (gaming, film, television and publishing) to achieve agreed income targets
- Research and identify potential clients and work with Senior Licensing Manager on pitches, including support with the creation of pitch materials using templates and media owned by Royal Armouries.
- Proactively grow and supervise location filming at our sites.
- Issue and manage IP related documentation and materials, such as contracts and invoices, for the Royal Armouries both as licensor and licensee.
- To assist in the provision and staff use of effective policies relating to the museums intellectual property.
- Work with IP staff to facilitate photography, filming and digitisation requests and support with content pipeline.
- To undertake any other tasks reasonably commensurate with the job role.
Relationships
- Reports to Senior Licensing & Media Partnerships Manager
- Work closely with the marketing & communications team to ensure brand partnerships achieve both sales and reach where possible.
- To provide support to the IP team as required around photography/IP pipeline and permissions.
- Cultivate effective relationships within licensing sector including clients, suppliers and peer institutions.
- Work with E-commerce Manager to optimize image library site growth and performance.

Hours
A full time position 5 days out of 7. Occasional weekend, Bank Holiday and evening working will be required on rare occasions.
