TITLE: Test Engineer / Senior Test Engineer
RESPONSIBLE TO:
SCOPE: Carrying out specific duties relating to the testing and fault finding of High Voltage Power Supplies, RF testing of Travelling Tubes (TWTs), Travelling Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs), Microwave Power Modules (MPMs), Power Amplifier Modules (PAMs) and supporting the Test Manager in the day-to-day activity in the designated Test areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Testing High Voltage Switch Mode Power Supplies and Travelling Wave Tubes having output voltages of up to 35kV.
- Fault Finding High Voltage Power Supplies down to component level.
- Producing effective evaluation reports which are technically accurate and commercially astute.
- Supporting the Test Manager and Test Supervisor in planning and supervising workloads, achievement of schedule activity against production test plans, identification of bottlenecks, resource and quality issues in conjunction with
- Test Manager (Operations)/Test Supervisor (Tubes)
- Engineering team
- Production Manager
- Production Supervision
- Programme Management Team
- Testing to both commercial and military specifications as required.
- Carrying out of RF testing on S, C, X, Ku and millimetric band TWTs.
- Carrying out tests on TWTAs of using Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analysers, RF Power Meters, RF Signal Generators, Pulse Generators etc.
- Carrying out Environmental Stress Screening tests, including vibration, altitude and operational temperature cycling.
- Working as part of a team and liaising with other departments when required.
- Maintaining adequate work records.
- Ensuring that all manufacturing related activities conform to Health and Safety requirements.
- Ensuring that working areas, plant, tools and test equipment are kept tidy, safe, maintained and calibrated.
- Fulfilling any other reasonable task when requested by your manager or team leader.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Ability to supervise staff and work as a team.
RF/TWT Test/High Voltage/Switched Mode Power Supply work experience
Mechanical skills
Good knowledge of Word, Excel and email applications.
REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work overtime and shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally possess a degree in RF/Electrical/Electronics/Physics but a minimum of a City & Guilds in one of these fields.
Suitable Mechanical Engineering/ RF qualifications
GCSE or Equivalent in English Language
